Home Projects EVERYONE can do and get.
December threw us some unexpected challenges, and we had to make a quick move. For a short time, all six of us stayed with my parents (yes, all of us under one roof!). Fortunately, we were able to rent a small house on a family friend's farm, originally meant for the foreman or a farm hand. While it’s cozy, I’m so excited to turn it into a fun project! I’ll be sharing my beginner-friendly decorating ideas, all on a super tight budget, and tips for maximizing small spaces (All while keeping the place original, I do not want to encourage something that will make you lose your deposit on your rental) . Stay tuned for Amazon affiliate links to affordable home upgrades and inspiration to show that if I can do it, you can too!

The first day I pulled in this little fella (Or, Lady? I still have to learn about them) was just watching me drive past! My new house is right on a llama farm!
This is the sign at the top of my house! It says "bunk house" and is just really weathered. In the spring I plan to restore it because I think it is SO COOL.
Most farmhouse decor ideas and tutorials seem to cater to fancy, high-dollar homes or brand-new builds. Meanwhile, I’m over here trying to show how middle-class families can decorate on a budget and still feel classy. We’re technically a 1.5-income family now since I closed the boutique storefront to focus on online sales—and let’s not forget, we have FOUR kids. But hey, just because we’re broke doesn’t mean we can’t have some class and style… even if it’s paired with a side of chaos and sticky fingerprints.
Downstairs Bathroom
Let's start with the downstairs bathroom- The shower was ate up with rust because the previous tenant didn't maintain the water softener to the well water properly. However, I discovered this awesome rust remover!
You just spray, leave it set and gently scrub off! The shower was as good as new!
Between my morning my morning makeup routine and my husbands nightly shower routine, and the occasional kid using my designated bathroom-- This bathroom serves many functions in a limited space. I researched so many ideas on small bathroom storage but had a small budget, use these small bathroom storage ideas I used to make the most of every square inch of space you have!
Farmhouse design includes natural textures like wood and rope. That’s why this DIY shelf project is perfect for your updated farmhouse bathroom.
I found a really cute idea on Pinterest about making crates into shelves, so I stained them with Minwax Espresso Stain-- Click here to get the exact color!
Make more space in any room by utilizing wall space!>>>
Use vertical space to make more room in your bathroom or any room with those crates! A wall-mounted rack or storage unit with open cubbies (I used crates for it) is ideal for extra hand towels, washcloths, and other small bathroom storage needs. Try rolling larger towels, so they fit inside the small slots.
By way these towels I got on Amazon feel just like luxury hotel towels! You can check them out when you click here!
I personally think EVERY room needs this set of stackable storage bins I got on tik tok (Click here for the tik tok video, and if you want to purchase just be sure to use the orange cart button)
They were EASILY assembled and I think they are cute and functional!
I also went with this bath mat!
The next thing I did to the downstairs bathroom was have my husband install these floating shelves,
WALL DECOR ON A BUDGET IN THE BATHROOM:
Something I REALLY love is minimalist style home decor signs. However, They can be pricey! I think funny signs in bathroom are hysterical and always wanted a few, so that I did! If you download PDFs you can find on Etsy, you can print and frame to display cute signs on a budget in your bathroom! Click here for a few of my bathroom sign printable listings! I printed mine at Walgreens cheaply!
The Girls Room!
I've had this vision in my mind for months, and I’m so excited to finally bring it to life! Using reclaimed pallets, my husband secured them to the walls to create unique headboards. To complete the look, I added eucalyptus garland from this link—each headboard needed 1-3 strands!
Each of the girls has the same bedding set! I found a 6-piece tufted bed-in-a-bag twin comforter set on Amazon in a beautiful blush pink. It was the perfect touch for my neutral boho-themed room, where I wanted to incorporate plenty of pink, sage, beige, and brown tones. You can see the different sizes and color options in the bedding I chose when you click here for the Amazon link.
The outside upgrades we have made so far:
There are dozens of simple and cheap home improvements that can boost your home's curb appeal. A few minor upgrades can add up to a finished look you can take pride in. Also, Just because you rent does not mean you cannot take pride in the way your house looks! If you landlords are good to you, they deserve you to take pride in how the inside AND outside of your home looks! We are on a tight budget, so I am going to show you a couple of NICE upgrades we made this winter (More coming in the spring) that you can do on a budget!
First thing my husband did was install these outdoor light bulbs right above the garage. This was an inexpensive way to really transform the look at night! Great curb appeal doesn’t go away at night so make sure your landscape lighting highlights your home’s best features. Plus, good landscape lighting increases your safety and security
I inherited these beautiful planters from my Grandma Frieda! At first, I had them displayed at the shop, but now they’ve found a new home in front of the garages at our new place. I went back and forth on which trees to put in there for the winter, and now that they’re in, I’m SO glad I went with these boxwood topiary trees.
They came in a set of two- But with any Faux tree that will be outside in the weather you should be sure to anchor them with a brick in your planter so they do not blow over.
