Hooded Eyeshadow tutorial! -- Lynzee Beatty

Hooded Eyeshadow tutorial! -- Lynzee Beatty

Hey ladies! It’s me, Lynzee with How About That Boutique--

You probably know me from my make up lives on the Facebook group but if you don’t, you will!!

Today I want to talk about all things HOODED EYES 🙃 !!!

First and foremost before I go any further, you need to forget that your beautiful hooded eyes can't rock any and all makeup looks because you can and you will. I will make sure of it queens! Most people don’t even realize I have hooded eyes because of these techniques I am going to share with you!

Let’s dive right in and talk about eyeshadow looks on hooded eyes. Those with hooded lids know better than anyone else how easily their eye makeup smears and smudges, so you have a couple different options here. You can make sure to place your primer spray and foundation on your eyelids before going any further or you can invest in eyelid primer just for your eyes!

After you are done priming those eyes we can apply the eyeshadow! (Yay!! this is my favorite part!)

* You want to place the eyeshadow just above your crease INSTEAD OF in the natural fold of your eyelid. You can see the photos I’ve attached for a better idea of exactly what I mean. The right photos are the do’s and the left photos are the dont’s.

When you do this, you will see a huge difference in your eyes. It will shock you! If you're a beginner at applying eyeshadow and you are worried about the eyeshadow going everywhere or not being clean enough for your liking, grab a small piece of tape and place it next to your eye, starting from the outer corner of your eye going up towards the brow, angle it to your liking!

Apply your eyeshadow from the center of your eye straight out toward the piece of tape. It'll give hooded lids the illusion of lifted eyes and again, you’ll be shocked!!!! Once you are done peel the tape off and look at how clean your eyeshadow looks!

Let’s move on to eyelashes! Since your lashes are often touching your brow bone, you don't want a mascara that will smudge so waterproof mascara is the best way to go, if you do not have waterproof mascara, that is okay just give your mascara extra time to dry.

If you are like me and are obsessed with false eyelashes, the longer the better with hooded eyes. Long lashes open up hooded eyes in an instant!! Let’s talk about eyeliner!! A cat eye is probably the biggest struggle for hooded lids but here is a picture I found of the easiest way to accomplish an awesome cat eye!

You can see in this photo, that little swoop at the end makes a world of difference on a hooded eyelid!

All of these tips will change your whole eye look, but remember, practice makes perfect. It won’t happen over night! Once you get these techniques down there is NO makeup look you can’t do!

I will be doing live make up tutorials using the make up from our website every Thursday at 8:30pm. Join me and let’s talk about different eyes, different techniques and do some different looks together! This Thursday, March 18th, I will be going live to show you how I use all these exact techniques and the huge difference it makes on my hooded eyes! Don’t miss it!
